Makino Aquatic Centre, feilding

CREATE were engaged by Manawatu District Council to design the new redevelopment and extension of the Makino Aquatic Centre in Fielding. Our scope covered full design services and lead consultancy role.

The development focused on the existing indoor facility and provided new change rooms and reception, new learn to swim pool in a separate enclosure and new indoor wet deck. It also included significant enhancement to the exiting pool hall.

The project was completed in 2016 on time and within budget. Construction value $5.8Million.

Key Project Features:

New change rooms, foyer and reception and staff accommodation, to support existing indoor 25x12.8m lap pool and toddler pool, and outdoor 50mx17.5 pool.
New Learn to Swim Pool 12.5x8m, in acoustically separated zone with supplementary change facilities and plant room.
New indoor wet deck and water play features.
Seismic strengthening and complete re-cladding of existing pool hall, and resurfacing of pool surrounds.
